Dataset Identifier
The Dateno search engine is based on a dataset registry. The dataset registry is a database that contains metadata for each dataset that Dateno has detected and indexed. Dateno continuously works to enhance and update the dataset registry.
When Dateno includes a dataset in the registry, it generates a unique identifier and assigns it to that dataset. Dataset identifiers are long, meaningless strings. The dataset identifier is persistent: it never changes and is never reused for another dataset, even if the original dataset is deleted from the registry.
The Dateno API accepts a dataset identifier as a unique key for accessing the dataset's metadata. For example, your application passes the dataset identifier as a request parameter when requesting the dataset card.
In the Dateno web application, the identifier of a dataset is visible in the ID field of its card. Also, it is a part of the dataset's URL in the dataset registry.
